Our personalities are comprised of different parts.
A part of you may want to do one thing, while another part might like to do something else. A part of you is what you present at work, another part is present around beloveds, another part is present around a new group of people you are meeting. When you are active or creative, these are different parts of your personality that are present in the moment. We all have Resource states.
Some personality resources are created by the repetition of returning over and over again to a coping skill. This is a physiological part of your nervous system; created by axon and dendrite growth and trained synaptic firings.
These parts of our personality are referred to as "resources", and each of our resources manifest traits of the coping skill that formed it, and will have its own level of emotion, intellect and abilities. Each resource is doing what it believes is best for us.
Over time, you may experience that some of these resources become unwanted by others. These are unwanted emotions and/or unwanted behaviours such as phobias, feelings of worthlessness or unlovability, addictions, perfectionist behaviour, anger, withdrawal, sleeplessness, confusion, anxiety, depression, over-working, over-exercising, over-eating, heightened situational fear, resentment, guilt, rejection and much more.
Do you catch yourself saying "I don't like it when I feel xxx?", or "I hate it when I xxx?", or "I wish I didn't do that."
Resource Therapy (RT) is an elegant and compassionate therapy that empowers all parts of you as we work with the resources individually and allow each of the resource states within you to feel empowered, expressed, understood, protected and cared for.
